For solo electricians in Australia · iPhone
Get paid before you leave the driveway.
Benchbill is the quote and invoice app for one-person electrical businesses. Send the quote from the job, take a deposit when they say yes, and collect the balance when you tap Job done.
Free through Apple's TestFlight. Payments run in test mode, so no real money moves yet.
- One app from quote to paid
- No app for your customer, just a link
- Deposit taken when they accept
- Balance collected on Job done
How it works
Four moments.
No admin at night.
-
01
Price it in the kitchen.
Build the quote on your phone while you're still standing there. GST is worked out for you, and the deposit stops at your state's cap.

-
02
Send it before you're back in the van.
The quote goes out by text with a link. It's a live page with your licence and ABN on it, not a PDF that gets lost in their inbox.

-
03
They say yes on their phone.
Your customer opens the link, reads the quote and types their name to accept. They approve the payment in their bank and the deposit comes out. Nothing to download, no account to make.

-
04
Tap Job done. Get paid.
When the work's finished, tap Job done. Your customer gets a text, and the balance comes out after a short window to flag a problem, or straight away if you tap Collect now. They get a GST tax invoice and receipt.

Go on, press it
The best button
you'll press all day.
Every job ends the same way. You tap Job done, the balance comes out, and the money shows up as paid. No invoice to write tonight, nothing to chase next week.

Built for one person,
not an office.
No dispatch board, no timesheets, no desktop setup. Everything happens on your phone, in the order a job actually happens.

The small print, done for you
The rules are built in.
- Deposits within your state's capThe deposit slider stops at the limit for NSW, VIC, QLD, WA and SA, and the server won't take more.
- Cooling-off, handledIf you made first contact, the quote shows the cooling-off notice and the deposit waits.
- Variations approved firstExtra work is approved by your customer before it's billed. Nothing extra is charged without a yes.
- Never over the approved totalBenchbill keeps a running total and won't collect more than the quote plus approved variations.
- A proper tax invoiceABN, GST, the buyer's details and every payment received, printable to PDF.
- A bank discount, never a surchargeOptionally knock a little off for paying by bank. Card customers get a pay link at full price.
Deposit caps and cooling-off are built from each state's rules, but they aren't legal advice.
Approve the quote.
Approve the payment.
With PayTo, accepting your quote also sets up a payment agreement in your customer's own bank app. The deposit comes out straight away, and the balance comes out when you tap Job done. There's no invoice to send and nothing to chase.
The whole flow is built, but payments in the early-access app run in test mode until our payments partner is connected. No real money moves yet.
- One jobThe agreement covers this job and nothing else.
- CappedIt can't go over the quote total.
- Ends on a dateIt finishes 30 days after the work.
- In their bankYour customer can see, pause or cancel it in their own banking app.
Card surcharges are banned in Australia from 1 October 2026.
So every card fee now comes out of your margin. Benchbill is being built around bank payments, which is where PayTo comes in.
Questions
When can I use it?
Now, if you have an iPhone. The beta runs through Apple's TestFlight: open the beta link, install TestFlight if you don't have it, and Benchbill installs from there.
What will it cost?
The beta is free. Pricing isn't set yet.
Does my customer need the app?
No. They get a message with a link to a web page where they read the quote, accept it and pay.
Is it on Android?
Benchbill is iPhone first. Your customers can be on any phone, since their side is a web page.
I'm not an electrician. Can I try it?
Yes. We're building for solo electricians first, but plumbers, carpenters and other one-person trades are welcome in the beta.
Can customers still pay by card?
Yes. Customers who'd rather use a card, or who don't set up a bank agreement, get a link to pay what's left. There's no surcharge, since those are banned now.
Is PayTo live?
Not with real money yet. The PayTo flow is built and working in test mode, and it goes live once our payments partner is connected.
Your cash drawer, in your pocket.
The beta is open on iPhone. Install it through Apple's TestFlight and run a job from quote to Job done.
Free. Payments are in test mode for now, so try it on a pretend job.
